Admittedly, this review is not about vintage electronics, but with the advance of technology, the time of CD players has passed and therefore many of old players are being sold on garage sales and at thrift stores. Some information about a few of them might help the one or the other. The Yamaha CDC-665 is one of the CD players you are likely to see when looking for older audio equipment,as it was the entry level multi CD player. Built in 1996, this player is actually not too old and of nice quality, but as other CD players, much of its value with the upcoming of mp3 files.
The CDC-665 is a 5 disc-changer, comes with a remote control and has the Yamaha typical feature to play one disc, while changing the other four, called PlayXchange. A great feature are the 10 buttons, allowing to directly choose the desired track, instead of skipping repeatedly. As many features of multi cd-players are very similar or not differentiable for most of us, it comes down to the differences everybody can see. An important point is how long the player needs to change from one CD to another and how long it takes to start playing a new CD or track.
